The lips naturally tend to thin during the ageing process.
Loss of definition can occur during the process of the skin changing as well as loss of elasticity.
The main purpose of this treatment is to create the illusion of youthful fullness in the lips by bringing some life back into them with pigment. This pigment is implanted into the second layer of the skin (dermis) and can last up to 2-3 years if maintained properly.
Fortunately, lip tattooing is suitable for all ages and skin types.
There are a few different tattoo styles, however, a sheer finish seems to be the best choice for mature skin (and is most chosen) as opposed to a very saturated lipstick look. This helps to ensure that it is a natural enhancement rather than a bold result on the face.
Colour choice is just as important as style (if not more) as the mature skin holds onto pigment differently from less mature skin types. This means that colour choice is extremely important as some colours may show up brighter on the skin and hold a lot better resulting in quite a vibrant lip tattoo.
Choosing the correct cosmetic tattoo artist ensures the treatment has the most suitable result specific to each clients skin needs.
